CRO-MECHANIX is an engineering practice specialized in strength calculations and technical documentation for pressure equipment. It is run by mechanical engineer Jura Tomorad from Marija Bistrica and works online for clients in Croatia and Europe.
Before sending drawings to an outside engineer, it makes sense to know who will produce the calculation and what qualifications that person holds. At CRO-MECHANIX, Jura Tomorad produces the calculation and is responsible for it.
CRO-MECHANIX was founded in 2025 in Marija Bistrica as an obrt, a Croatian sole proprietorship.
It answers a problem that pressure equipment manufacturers cannot solve alone. They have a production facility and orders, but no calculation engineer and no licensed software for calculations to the standards.
Another common case is a manufacturer that has the software but meets a geometry its calculation model does not cover. The third group covers metal fabricators moving from steel structures to pressure vessels, and design offices that outsource the strength calculation.

Founder and owner, mechanical engineer
Jura Tomorad is the founder and owner of CRO-MECHANIX and a mechanical engineer. He carries out strength calculations by design by formulae (DBF) to EN 13445, AD 2000 and ASME Section VIII Division 1. He also produces thermodynamic calculations of boilers and heat exchangers.
For details outside the scope of the formulae, he uses linear finite element analysis (FEA) to EN 13445-3 Annex C and ASME Section VIII Division 2, described under FEA design by analysis (DBA).
Jura Tomorad completed a postgraduate specialist study in mechanical engineering at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture. His track was structural strength calculation. This education is the technical basis for the strength calculations he produces at CRO-MECHANIX.
In addition to his degree, Jura Tomorad has passed the professional exam before the ministry responsible for physical planning and construction. It is a qualification confirmed by a state body.
He has completed training in Hexagon PV Elite, a software tool for calculating pressure vessels to the standards listed above.
Croatian Society of Mechanics (HDM)
Through HDM, Jura Tomorad belongs to the professional community for mechanics, the field on which the strength calculation of pressure equipment rests.
Croatian Chamber of Mechanical Engineers (HKIS)
He is also a member of the Croatian Chamber of Mechanical Engineers. It is his second professional membership alongside HDM. Between them, the two cover the fields he works in: mechanics and mechanical engineering.
